A PIMP STORY
I'm a 20 something Chicago Illinois denizen. I'm not new to Linux at all. I've been using it off and on since 2002 ever since I had to take a class about Linux. My instructor showed us the beauty of Linux and I was hooked. I just wasn't lucky enough to be able to use it at home. The fact was I was too poor to afford another computer to put it on. Still, during this time, I was able to try different distros of Linux. I started with Redhat 7.3 and used it all the way till it got to 9.0. Then I used Fedora from Core 1 to Core 5. In that time I used SuSe which was my favorite at one point, and I also used Gentoo which was amazing. Still when I tried Ubuntu in Spring of 2006 I really enjoyed it. Then in late September of 2006 I was able to finally get Linux to work on my laptop. I had a problem with the ata_piix and I didn't feel like recompiling the kernel to make it work before. Anyway it worked great with Dapper Drake and I was hooked. I couldn't go back to Windows. Since then I've been using Edgy Eft.
Since September 2006 I have pimped Ubuntu to many people and am working on another million. I found a trick and who the right people are to pimp Ubuntu to. Once I pulled out my pimping skills they all had no choice but to want Ubuntu. So my mixture of having prior Linux knowledge and my ability to be a pimp with Ubuntu is partially why I'm the Ubuntu Pimp.
My other reason for being a pimp is my ability to get girls. That's right folks I'm a bonafied pimp. For proof I have the most beautiful Chinese girl ever created, who I will call Exotica. Lucy Liu (Charlie's Angels) and Zhang Ziyi (Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon) have nothing on her.
OK so now I bragged about what I can do and am doing. I should now say what I do for a living. I work for a University. I work with the foreign students. I administrate for a program which teaches them English. No this is not how I met my girlfriend, I met her in a different way and she already knew English. Anyway I'm some sort of Administrator/Lab Consultant. I am also a musician. I play guitar for a band here in Chicago, I'm also involved with 2 international projects at the moment.
Anyway, my goal here is to show the world Ubuntu. Not to mention help the computer community become a little more healthy. I see too many of us being fat and not leaving the house too often. We should be just as active as others out there. The days of being the computer guy who works by himself in a small room is over. If you are in the IT field, you have to work with others and be able to talk and be confident. So come join me on my adventures in the computer world and in pimping.
